Nature Explorers is a Private Education Association. We are certified teachers in New York that have left the education system and feel a strong desire to create a safe space for children to learn, socialize and play. We have a dedicated space in Suffolk County to provide nature enrichment programs and lessons for homeschooling families.
We utilize our indoor space to teach and encourage learners to become free thinkers who explore their interests in the natural world. We also hold outdoor learning days at local parks to study nature.
We believe children thrive when they are provided with an environment that puts their physical, spiritual and mental health first.
We believe learning happens when there is a personal connection to the information.
We believe children naturally learn from one another when they feel safe and supported in a loving and nourishing environment.
Nature Explorers provides nature enrichment programs and events for students based on their interests. Much of the work we will focus on will be hands-on, project-based learning that incorporates core skills such as reading, writing, science, art and math. Journal writing, field notes, portfolio creation and presentations are part of the daily routine. Free play and self- directed learning are also components we use and encourage.
Days at parks learning about migrating fish and birds. Hikes exploring fauna and ecosystems. Identifying bird calls. Getting our hands dirty and working as a team. There is no end to the learning opportunities nature can offer! We are blessed with amazing parks and spaces in Suffolk County. Everything the learners discover on their outdoor explorations can be brought back into the studio to build upon.
